Guitar Lessons

Folk, rock, pop, country, open tunings; acoustic or electric; rhythm or lead; finger-picking, or with a flatpick - lessons are tailored to each student. Playing for over 40 years, I draw from a wide range of material to provide you with songs and exercises to give you the skills that you can use for the rest of your life.
Depending on interest, lessons cover musicianship, reading chord charts/tablature, music theory, ability to play with others, performance, and improvisation. For those interested in songwriting, we move into arranging, composing, and lyric development.
If you are just starting out, or want to take your playing to the next level, I can help you be the musician you want to be. I love sharing music with others, and love seeing students achieve their musical goals.

BIO: Mike Ehlers toured the US multiple times as a solo artist, playing up to 150 events per year. He has taken home a handful of songwriting awards over the years and believes in the power of music to inspire audiences and create community. In addition to teaching thousands of private lessons, he teaches group classes, led classes at various elementary schools, and spent a year leading an 18-member Guitar Ensemble at a private high school that included two performances for over 300 people. He has a degree in Computer Networking. When he is not teaching he continues to perform at venues in Northern California and beyond.
