Acoustic music that covers alot of territory, Mike Ehlers moves from eco-folk-rap to pop, from alt-country to mellow grooves, from story-folk-with-a-punch to ballads born in the depths of a quieted gratitude.
In 2014 his song “Father’s Day” took "Song of the Year" in Palo Alto division of West Coast Songwriters. His song “Stay” also won “Song of the Year” in the Sebastopol division for 2010. Other local songwriting accolades include winning regional songwriting events in the bay area at Berkeley, Marin, Sebastopol, Lafayette, Petaluma and Palo Alto.
After several years of touring the United States, Mike currently makes his home in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Past local performances include The Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, The Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, Hopmonk in Sebastopol/Sonoma/Novato, The Fenix in Marin, The Union Room in San Francisco, Napa City Nights, The Mendocino Music Festival, Casparfest, and several appearances in the Mendocino Stories concert series.
Before returning to California in 2009, Mike spent five years in Edmonton, Canada, where he performed at City TV, Radio CBC's Center Stage, the Jubilee Auditorium, 'Night of Artists' yearly concert, the 'Heart of the City Festival', 'Winterfest', the Arden Theatre, the Northern Lights Folk Club and a variety of other venues throughout Edmonton. See the website for a complete list of previous performances.
Glad to be back in Northern California, Mike continues to write, record and perform, touring the California and beyond.
