sometimes all of us folks on this planet          
we start taking things for granted
cause everyday we go out and we buy a little more
unknowingly engaging the earth in a war

its a global situation and things are lookin grim
poisoned land and streams, and the ozone’s getting thin
are we gonna break the spell, are we gonna get smart

or is everything just gonna fall apart?

poor little planet under so much stress,  
I wonder if it's time for us all to just… Use Less

what price do we pay for all of our distractions
devices, and gadgets and box office attractions?
it’s a whole culture based on external consumption
hey now everybody, ain't we missing something?

the best things in life are free
they’re not advertised on TV
and we don’t need materiality
to set our spirits free

are we doing what we can to get out of this mess?      
it certainly would help if we all would just…  Use Less

buying and selling and throwing away
it’s polluting our planet everyday
will we destroy the very earth that we walk upon
happiness through consumption is a myth gone wrong

gonna have to get together, before things get much worse
ain't it time to heed the signs, and put the earth first?

now when the last fish is caught

the last tree is cut down
when the last stream is poisoned

will we finally hear the sound?

of the truth that’s everywhere

cause it’s calling out to reason
and it’s a mighty simple fact

that money can’t be eaten

get our priorities straight

this won’t wait

it’s time to act

and it’s not too late

time for all of us to get down on our knees and confess

make a pledge to God above that from now on we’re gonna…. Use Less

lets bring wisdom back, put our children first
pay attention to our actions, save ourselves from the worst

for our little ones what are we gonna do?
now don’t you wish your parents had done it for you?

cause if we all take the time to do our part
we gonna have those warm fuzzies flowing through our hearts
so come on little brother, little sister take my hand
if we walk this path together we’ll find the promised land

 

it's time to give this little planet some rest.
